Type/Edit/Print Wall Chart Select this option to create a new wall chart; edit a chart selected from those saved on a data disk (option #2); and to print a hardcopy of the chart. 2 ... Read Text File from Disk Load wall charts previously saved on a disk into the computer's memory. 3 ... Save Wall Chart to Disk You may choose to store your charts on a data disk. Use option #4 to change the storage location. 4 ... Select Data Disk, Path Use this option to set the storage location of your stored wall charts and text files. ==== Choice 1 --- Type/Edit/Print Wall Chart This screen displays the current chart. There are four action keys: Tap the 1 key to change the width of the chart. Charts may be from one to four panels wide. One panel is a 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper laid sideways and it will hold five lines of twelve characters. If the chart contains text, the program will readjust the placement of the text. Caution - when going from a wide chart to a narrow chart, you might loose text. Tap the 2 key to toggle (switch) between a regular print density and a bold or heavy print density. Tap the E key to enter the edit mode. In the edit mode you will be able to select alternate text symbols, toggle between insert and replace modes, and move about the chart making changes. Tap the P key to print the chart. Be advised that charts take a bit of time to print. If bold text density is selected, the printing time is lengthened. ==== Edit the Wall Chart Arrow keys to move the cursor vertically and horizontally Home key to move cursor to the beginning of the line End key to move the cursor to the end of the line Alt-L to erase text from the cursor to the end of the line Alt-Y to erase text from the cursor to the end of the chart Ins to toggle between the Insert and Replace modes Alt-K to scroll through the six sets of alternate keys (see below) Set - 1 Set - 4 ---------------- ---------------- A = α N = φ A = │ N = ╗ B = ß O = ε B = ┤ O = ╝ C = Γ P = ∩ C = ┐ P = ╚ D = π Q = ≡ D = └ Q = ╔ E = Σ R = ± E = ┴ R = ╩ F = σ S = ≥ F = ┬ S = ╦ G = µ T = ≤ G = ├ T = ╠ H = τ U = ÷ H = ─ U = ═ I = Φ V = ≈ I = ┼ V = ╬ J = Θ W = ∙ J = ┘ W = ⌠ K = Ω X = √ K = ┌ X = ⌡ L = δ Y = ⁿ L = ╣ Y = · M = ∞ Z = ² M = ║ Z = ■ ==== Choice 2 --- Load Chart from Disk A) The program will display a list of Wall Chart files on the current drive and path. File names may not exceed eight characters in length. You may use letters, numbers, and dashes; but avoid other punctuation symbols. Do not put an extension on the file name as the program appends .WC to all file names so that it can recognize Wall Chart files on the disk. C) To replace one on the files on the list with your current chart, simply type the number of the file you wish replaced. ==== Choice 5 --- Remove a Chart from the Disk A) The program will display a list of Wall Chart files on the current drive and path. For example: 1) DEMO <------ List of charts on the disk. 2) RULES 3) SPELLING B) Type the number of the chart you wish to remove and tap Enter. ==== Choice 5 ... Select Data Disk, Path This selection allows you to reset the location of the question lists. The program will automatically use the location of the Test Generator program when it is first run. If you have a second disk drive, or if you are running the Test Generator from a fixed drive (drive C:), you may want to store your question lists on a separate data disk or in a data subdirectory. The syntax for entering the new data location is: d:\path where "d" is the drive letter, and "path" is the name of the subdirectory. Examples: B: data is stored on drive B A: data is stored on drive A C:\DATA data is stored on fixed disk C in subdirectory \DATA C:\HM\DATA data is stored on fixed disk C in subdirectory \HM\DATA end
